The MarlowFM Music Festival 2010 takes place on Saturday 11th September this year. Mark the date on your calendar!
Following on from the success of last year's MarlowFM Music Festival in Riley Park, this year should prove to be even bigger and better. There will be a free concert running from 10am through to 6pm in Riley Park followed by a limited ticketed evening indoor concert in the theatre at Sir William Borlase's Grammar School from 7.30pm onwards. This is a ticketed event and numbers are limited to 180 and you will need to order your tickets in advance to guarantee your place. Only last minute returns will be available on the night. Profits from the day time concert in Riley Park will be split 50/50 between the Riley Park Trust and MarlowFM. Profits from the evening event will go towards hitting the target of £26,000 that is estimated the station needs to realise to build, and equip our new studios, launch on FM and mantain the service for the first year. MarlowFM is a not for profit organisation and will have a hard task generating sufficient revenue streams over and above any grants that may or may not be forthcoming in order to stay afloat. At least three community radio stations have ceased to broadcast in recent times because of lack of funding and look what happened to our local commercial station, Mix FM. They had to hand their licence back to OfCOM and no one in the industry has been tempted to take it on as yet.
So, it's important that events like the music festival are strongly supported. To maybe ensure that you're going to be with us on the 11th September rather than anywhere else, here is the confirmed line up to date:
